Backstory: Kevin Brown

Drummer Kevin Brown had been performing with several Philadelphia area bands for a number of years, drumming for Tormented Genius (who had opened for Rage Against the Machine), and playing guitar with The Hydrogen Hell Horses, so he brought a lot of rock and roll to the table when he first joined The Kiera Plan in the summer of 2011.

While Kevin has been bringing the thunder behind the drum kit on stage, he showed his versatility in the studio for The Kiera Plan's sophomore LP Right Now, shredding through guitar work on "Starting Over Today," "You Are Not Alone," and "We're Gone."

You can hear Kev rocking the soaring lead guitar riffs during the two verses on "Starting Over Today."

Kev handled the acoustic guitar work on The Kiera Plan cover of Jealousy Faction's "You Are Not Alone."

"Kev came through big time for us on We're Gone.  Not only rocking the riffs on the verses, but on the climactic guitar solo as well.  It was one of the last instrumental pieces we had to record, and I knew we needed a guitar solo there, but I didn't have one I was happy with.  Kev is so well-versed in big time rock and roll shredding - being a big fan of KISS, Motley Crue, etc. - I just knew Kev could tear it up.  I called Kev about a week before we went in to the studio, and he brought this ferocious sweeping solo, that Vince (Ratti, our producer) and I were just loving!  We had Kev layer a number of tracks of his solo, including some harmonizing versions, before we could stop ourselves.  The 5-track version of the solo was EPIC!  And while the three of us decided simpler was better here, and peeled it back to his original, every version of Kev's solo brings that same great rock and roll excitement.  It's one of my favorite moments on the whole record" - Shawn (O'Brien, TKP frontman)
